HEALTHCARE OUTREACH
Roopaantar Nature and Health Organization Partners
with e-Infochips to Promote Health in Urban Slums
On May 11, Roopaantar
Nature and Health Organization, Indore, in collaboration with E-Infochips,
conducted a medical campaign at Mayur Nagar in the Musakhedi region of Indore.
This initiative aimed to help slum residents identify and address their health
issues, tackling the numerous challenges faced by urban slum dwellers,
including poor sanitation, lack of clean water, inadequate healthcare, and malnutrition.
The campaign provided health awareness, medical check-ups, and solutions,
contributing directly to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as Good
Health and Well-being (SDG 3) and Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6). By
improving access to healthcare and promoting hygiene practices, the initiative
supports the broader objectives of reducing health inequalities and promoting
sustainable urban living. This effort not only provided immediate medical
assistance but also educated the community on maintaining better health
standards, thereby fostering long-term positive impacts on their overall
well-being.
The campaign included 75
beneficiaries from General, OBC, and ST categories, with a special emphasis on
female participants who brought their children along. The primary focus was on
addressing female-specific health issues, many of which are often overlooked in
the slum communities. The campaign also delved into mental health and
depression, discussing challenges faced by women due to family and societal
pressures. Dr. Radha Goyal, MBBS, a senior doctor dedicated to social welfare,
served as the chief consultant. Her expertise and compassionate approach helped
identify and address various health concerns, providing much-needed medical
advice and support. Free medications were provided to all attendees, ensuring
they received the necessary treatments without any financial burden. This initiative not only offered immediate
healthcare solutions but also raised awareness about the importance of women's
health and mental well-being, aiming for long-term positive impacts on the
community.
