BREAST CANCER SCREENING
Hindustan
Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a leading aerospace and defence company in India,
has recently launched an innovative breast cancer screening initiative in
collaboration with Roopaantar Nature and Health Organization. This project
employs advanced imaging technologies and AI-driven analysis to enhance early
detection and diagnosis of breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most commonly
diagnosed cancer among women globally, with approximately 2.3 million new cases
reported in 2020, making it a leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Despite
advancements in treatment, survival rates vary, particularly between developed
and low-resource regions. HAL's program focuses on early detection by using
cutting-edge techniques like image pre-processing, segmentation, and
classification to minimize diagnostic errors. Targeting 3,000 women in
aspirational districts i.e. Barwani and Khandwa. The initiative includes
awareness and screening camps aimed at addressing the rising incidence of
breast cancer in India, especially in rural areas.
